If I Had Time 5-24-11

If I had enough time to complete my game I would add more scenes. I would do this because it would make my game more challenging, it would make my game better, and it would also make it more enjoyable.

The first reason why I would like to finish my game is so it would be more challenging. I like hard and challenging games and that’s what I planned to make. I want to make a game that the player can’t beat on one try.

The second reason why I would like to finish my game is so it would make my game better. If you make more scenes your game will most of the time be better. The player doesn’t want the game to be short so I want to give them what they want.

The third and final reason why I would like to finish my game is so it would make my game more enjoyable. If you have a long and finished game, then the player will like it better. Plus it adds more excitement.

What I learned During Game Presentations 5-13-11

During the game presentations I learned two things about myself and two things about my classmates. The two things that I learned about myself was, I want to win this competition very badly, and that I'm not to nervous when I'm under pressure. I want to win this competition more than anyone in my class. When I got up to present my game I thought that I would be nervous, but once I started talking about it I calmed down. The two things that I learned about my class is the fact that they had good games and the second thing is that we can present professionally if we want to. Our class made good games, but I thought that if we would've worked on them as hard as we could've, then they would've been complete and really great games. The second thing that I learned about my class is that we can present good if we want to.

Group Overview 5-6-11

Our game has been going great. I don't have much to finish on my game, but I'm still going to stay for after-school so that I can make sure that it's working properly. If I had to grade Heather on the work that she has done on our game, then she would have a F. I will be nice about it and give her a 55%. Heather has done nothing to get our game complete. The only thing that she done was the credits scene. I just hope that she studies our game and does a good job during presentations. If she does what she done in Mr.Addair's practice run, then we'll never have a shot of winning the competition. If I had to grade myself I would give myself a 95%. I think that I deserve this grade because I did everything on our game. If you want to play the recent version of our game, go to our Team Page.

Our Final Games 4-22-11

Game Presentations are right around the corner. We are working very hard to try and complete our games. I don't need a lot for my game to be finished. We're having an activity today, but I'm going to try and finish my game while everyone else is having fun. The only thing that needs accomplished on my game is adding the fractions onto my squares. It shouldn't take to long, but with the luck that I'm having it could take all year.

What I Need To Finish 4-15-11

We don't have but a week to get our games together and finished. It's going to be sketchy, but I believe that we can do it. I don't need a lot for my game to be finished, but it's going to be hard to get my game complete. The things that I need to complete is score, I also have to put the fractions on the blocks, and then I have to correct the hit test for it to go to the congrats scene. I don't know if I'm going to add score or not, I'll mention it in my next blog.

Changes Since The Start of The Year 4-11-11

I've made a lot of progress on my game since the beginning of the year. At the beginning of the year I didn't do anything in flash, but lately I've locked down and got my head out of the gutters. The three main things that I've done lately is hit test, timer, and navigation with the arrow keys.

The first accomplishment that I had was hit test. One of the most important things in my game is hit test, so if I didn't create a hit test my game would be nothing. It took a couple of days to find the codes for it, but once I added them to my game it brought the game to life.

The second accomplishment that I had was timer. I still haven't figured it out all the way. I've got it counting down, but after the scene is complete it still counts down and makes my game glitch BADLY!!!

The third and final accomplishment that I had was navigation with the arrow keys. Navigation with the arrow keys is one of the most important things in my game. Without navigation of the arrow keys the football player wouldn't move. If the football player didn't move then it wouldn't be an original football game.

So these are the accomplishments that I've made to my game.Hit test, timer, and navigation with the arrow keys only took me about a two weeks to create all of these.

Peer Evaluations 4-1-11

Yesterday we evaluated each others games. I was so shocked to see the progress that the other teams have made in the last weeks. I believe that I've made a lot of progress lately on my game. We had to walk around, play the other teams' games, and then we had to tell them one bad thing and two suggestions that could make their game better.

The fist comment that I got was good. It was describing how great my graphics were. It took me a while to get the football field, football players, and the routes for the WR to look good. I had to keep making them because I would mess up. Once I got help from Billy and some other classmates I made the graphics easier and better.

The second comment that I got was also good. It was describing how the other teams liked my game play. I try to make my game as fun as possible, but also while teaching them. In "Raider's Equation" you're a football player (Dustin or Austin). In the third quarter you have to run touchdowns while dodging blocks (enemies). In the fourth quarter you are the quarterback. You have to wait for the WR to get as far as they can down then field and then throw it to them.

The third and final comment was a suggestion from the other teams. It was describing how I don't have the hit test working on the runningback scene. I've tried and tried to get it working, but I can't figure it out. Some other classmates and I have been working our hardest, but none of us can accomplish it. I've tried the hit test actionscript, but it don't seem to help.

So that's the good comments and bad. From the graphics to the gameplay I try to make my game the best, and that's what I plan to do.
