If I Had Time 5-24-11

If I had enough time to complete my game I would add more scenes. I would do this because it would make my game more challenging, it would make my game better, and it would also make it more enjoyable.

The first reason why I would like to finish my game is so it would be more challenging. I like hard and challenging games and that’s what I planned to make. I want to make a game that the player can’t beat on one try.

The second reason why I would like to finish my game is so it would make my game better. If you make more scenes your game will most of the time be better. The player doesn’t want the game to be short so I want to give them what they want.

The third and final reason why I would like to finish my game is so it would make my game more enjoyable. If you have a long and finished game, then the player will like it better. Plus it adds more excitement.

What I learned During Game Presentations 5-13-11

During the game presentations I learned two things about myself and two things about my classmates. The two things that I learned about myself was, I want to win this competition very badly, and that I'm not to nervous when I'm under pressure. I want to win this competition more than anyone in my class. When I got up to present my game I thought that I would be nervous, but once I started talking about it I calmed down. The two things that I learned about my class is the fact that they had good games and the second thing is that we can present professionally if we want to. Our class made good games, but I thought that if we would've worked on them as hard as we could've, then they would've been complete and really great games. The second thing that I learned about my class is that we can present good if we want to.

Group Overview 5-6-11

Our game has been going great. I don't have much to finish on my game, but I'm still going to stay for after-school so that I can make sure that it's working properly. If I had to grade Heather on the work that she has done on our game, then she would have a F. I will be nice about it and give her a 55%. Heather has done nothing to get our game complete. The only thing that she done was the credits scene. I just hope that she studies our game and does a good job during presentations. If she does what she done in Mr.Addair's practice run, then we'll never have a shot of winning the competition. If I had to grade myself I would give myself a 95%. I think that I deserve this grade because I did everything on our game. If you want to play the recent version of our game, go to our Team Page.

Our Final Games 4-22-11

Game Presentations are right around the corner. We are working very hard to try and complete our games. I don't need a lot for my game to be finished. We're having an activity today, but I'm going to try and finish my game while everyone else is having fun. The only thing that needs accomplished on my game is adding the fractions onto my squares. It shouldn't take to long, but with the luck that I'm having it could take all year.

What I Need To Finish 4-15-11

We don't have but a week to get our games together and finished. It's going to be sketchy, but I believe that we can do it. I don't need a lot for my game to be finished, but it's going to be hard to get my game complete. The things that I need to complete is score, I also have to put the fractions on the blocks, and then I have to correct the hit test for it to go to the congrats scene. I don't know if I'm going to add score or not, I'll mention it in my next blog.

Changes Since The Start of The Year 4-11-11

I've made a lot of progress on my game since the beginning of the year. At the beginning of the year I didn't do anything in flash, but lately I've locked down and got my head out of the gutters. The three main things that I've done lately is hit test, timer, and navigation with the arrow keys.

The first accomplishment that I had was hit test. One of the most important things in my game is hit test, so if I didn't create a hit test my game would be nothing. It took a couple of days to find the codes for it, but once I added them to my game it brought the game to life.

The second accomplishment that I had was timer. I still haven't figured it out all the way. I've got it counting down, but after the scene is complete it still counts down and makes my game glitch BADLY!!!

The third and final accomplishment that I had was navigation with the arrow keys. Navigation with the arrow keys is one of the most important things in my game. Without navigation of the arrow keys the football player wouldn't move. If the football player didn't move then it wouldn't be an original football game.

So these are the accomplishments that I've made to my game.Hit test, timer, and navigation with the arrow keys only took me about a two weeks to create all of these.

Peer Evaluations 4-1-11

Yesterday we evaluated each others games. I was so shocked to see the progress that the other teams have made in the last weeks. I believe that I've made a lot of progress lately on my game. We had to walk around, play the other teams' games, and then we had to tell them one bad thing and two suggestions that could make their game better.

The fist comment that I got was good. It was describing how great my graphics were. It took me a while to get the football field, football players, and the routes for the WR to look good. I had to keep making them because I would mess up. Once I got help from Billy and some other classmates I made the graphics easier and better.

The second comment that I got was also good. It was describing how the other teams liked my game play. I try to make my game as fun as possible, but also while teaching them. In "Raider's Equation" you're a football player (Dustin or Austin). In the third quarter you have to run touchdowns while dodging blocks (enemies). In the fourth quarter you are the quarterback. You have to wait for the WR to get as far as they can down then field and then throw it to them.

The third and final comment was a suggestion from the other teams. It was describing how I don't have the hit test working on the runningback scene. I've tried and tried to get it working, but I can't figure it out. Some other classmates and I have been working our hardest, but none of us can accomplish it. I've tried the hit test actionscript, but it don't seem to help.

So that's the good comments and bad. From the graphics to the gameplay I try to make my game the best, and that's what I plan to do.

How I've Used My Time Wisely. 3-25-11

We only have about one month left until presentations. I've been working hard on my game lately, so I can probably get it finished before presentation. Lately I've used my time wisely so that I could work on my game. I worked on my game both periods as fast as I could, so that on Friday I can show my progress. I plan on using my time wisely until the day of presentations. I'm going to try to get moving on a path working on my wide receivers. I only have a small amount to finish with my game, but it may take the rest of the year. You never know when something with your game may go wrong. If you want to see my progress go to my Team Page.

HUGE Problems and How I overcome them 3-18-11

--At the beginning of the year I didn't even look at my game. I was to busy talking or doing some other nonsense. Lately I've locked down and started to work on my game. In the last two weeks I've got alot accomplised (hit test on the blocks on my bonus level and I got my football player to move). I have had three obsticles lately and they were, hit test, getting the player to move, and getting the blocks to loop.

--The first obsticle that I've had this year is hit test. Hit test has a lot of codes and if you don't get them correctly then it won't work. It took me about three days to figure out how to get hit test working. Thanks to Mr.Addair and Billy I've got it working correctly now. I learned how to make a hit test and how easy it is from this obsticle.
--The second obsticle that I've had this year is getting my players to move. Like I said before, it uses a lot of actionscript and one small error can mess your game up. I went onto my projects page and got the actionscript off of my bunny file. I learned that it was as easy this year as it was last year to make players move.
--The third obsticle that I've had this year is getting my blocks to loop. It took me about four days to accomplish this obsticle. Mr.Addair helped me with this problem. I learned that it wasn't that hard to make them loop, I figured out how to make players loop, and the final thing that I learned was that Mr.Addair is a great help.

--So now you understand my last three obsticles, how I overcome them, and what I learned from them. So I guess it isn't that bad to have obsticles in your life, because you will always learn from them.

Progress For Our Goal on Friday 3-11-11

I have made some progress to my game scince the day that I made the goal for next Friday. I said that I was going make the choose a player scene complete, make a player move, and so far I've got them completed. I made a bonus level were you are a runningback and you have to dodge the blocks (defensive players) and make it to the other side of the screen. I also have two scenes with offensive plays on them, and then your WR. will run that route and you have to throw him the ball. You can look at my progress on my team page.

What We're Supposed To Have finished? 3-4-11

Our game still likes a lot of work to be finished. My team made a goal with Mr.Addair. Our goal was to add football players to the football field by today. I've almost got the players added. So far in our game I've got the titlescene, aboutscene, helpscene, and almost level one. In our game you can choose the difficulty level. The harder the level, the faster the player.

Good and Bad News On Our Game 2-25-11

So far this year I've got a little done on our game.Yesterday I started adding more buttons to my game. The good news about my game is that I have it all planned out. Another thing that's good news is the fact that I'm starting to work on my game. My final good news about my game is that it won't be that hard to finish. The bad news about my game is that I might need some help with the actionscript. You can go to my teampage and see my progress so far.

No More Quiz 2-18-11

Since the game demos I've started to change my game from a quiz game.I've been working on getting the football players to move.So far my process on getting the players to move is not the greatest. This will bring our game alive.I'm doing this so my game will be a true football game.So far I'm having problems with getting the players to move.I'm thinking about asking Billy to help me.

What I've Done After The Game Demo 2-11-11

After the game demo I've realized that I need to buckle down and really work on our game.So far since the game demos I haven't done much to our game, but I've got it all planned out.Heather and I have been talking about how we're going to make our game better. We've decided that it's the high school playoffs and your the quarterback who has to lead his team back to victory. You have to throw the football down the field and hit the right fractions before time expires.

What I Learned From The Demo Feb.4, 2011

I'm going to tell you how I plan to make my game better. We still have to add some game scenes, mostly the football scenes. In our game we had to make some adjustments to our story. Instead of it being a quiz, the Globaloria Staff gave us some ideas on how to make our game better. It's the state championship and your down by a couple of touchdowns. You have to throw the football down field and hit the right fractions to score. You will have a certain time limit left in the fourth quarter and you will have to outscore the Mount View Knights. At the beginning of the game you can pick the difficulty and it will determine how many touchdowns you are down by.

Greatest Challenge 1-6-11

Today I'm going to you about my greatest challenge so far this year.I'd say that my greatest challenge this year was actionscript.I believe actionscript was my greatest challenge because it can be hard sometimes. It can also be a pain in the rear if you don't know what your doing.Actionscript can be hard sometimes because they're a lot of codes and they can get frustrating. For the easiest movemont you have to put in a code that is huge.I don't believe that anyone in our class likes actionscript.
